Why do you keep struggling with the same challenges over and over again?
Knowing this can help you overcome these challenges more quickly and with less struggle.
We all have challenges.
They are a part of life.
However, your challenges become problems when you stay stuck in them, unable to move forward when the right opportunities come along.
What would cause you to stay stuck, struggling with a challenge for longer than you need to?
If your judging mind resists the challenge – you stay stuck in it.
You know that saying, “what you resist, persists”?
Well, it’s true.
When you have judged a challenge as ‘bad’, you want to run from it and make it go away.
Your judging mind prevents you from fully experiencing what’s actually happening.
But the experience is necessary in your growth and learning.
Until you acknowledge the challenge, it’s here to stay until you experience it with non-judgment and compassion.
That’s the big difference between you and your friends in nature.
You have been gifted with a judging mind – the curse is that you’ve been trained to over-use it.
This over-use turns observations into evaluations.
The difference between observations and evaluations, are that the evaluations are judgmental.
The judgments become part of your dramatic story of what’s ‘good’ and ‘bad’.
This story is re-told again and again so that a self-sabotaging pattern emerges to keep you stuck – unable to experience anything new and different.
Whereas plants and other animals use their versions of their minds to observe their situation – and then acknowledge it with no judgments of ‘good’ nor ‘bad’ – immersing totally in the experience so that they can be free to adapt accordingly – in the most life enhancing way possible.
The key to fully experiencing something, is to acknowledge without judgmentTo fully experience something is to acknowledge it without judgment. Click To Tweet
It’s important to realize that acknowledgement does not equal endorsement.
Just because you acknowledge something, does NOT mean you should be willing to put up with it forever.
To acknowledge with non-judgment means to experience what’s happening right now, but also with an understanding that the situation is not permanent.
Nothing in nature is permanent. Things are in constant flux and transformation – resting, growing, learning, stretching and dying.
Our nature allies have an innate understanding of this. You do too…but sometimes your mind helps you to forget this. So it can freak you out with it’s fears and dramatic stories – keeping you stuck in your current challenges.
To bring this message home I’d like to introduce this post’s Nature Metaphor and Corresponding Mindset & Habit Shift (I try to include them in every post):
This post’s nature metaphor is brought to you by:
The Female Pine Cone
Though wet and cold weather conditions are unfavorable for seed dispersal, the female pine cone acknowledges such situations. It will fully experience what’s happening and react by closing up, protecting its seeds so they remain safe and dry.
When warm and dry weather arrives, the cone will open up, giving its mature seeds the best chance in flying far and wide.
And thanks to the wet weather of the past season, the land is adequately moist so that the seeds can successfully germinate and flourish, sharing its gifts with the world.
This Post’s Corresponding Mindset & Habit Shift:
Though your situation right now could be unfavorable for getting what you immediately want, acknowledge your observations of what’s happening without judgment.
Keep your authentic self safe by giving yourself and others compassion, regardless of the current situation.
Keep protecting and nurturing your dreams so they become strong in your heart.
Know that though this challenging situation is part of your life right now, but it won’t stay this way forever. In time, you’ll understand why it’s happening (there’s a good reason for it and you might even discover that something helpful is taking place in the end).
Don’t give up on yourself.
Have faith that the right conditions (people and situations) will come along at the perfect moment, so you can manifest your vision.
In the meantime:
- Keep experiencing life to the fullest without judgment.
- Keep giving yourself self-compassion.
- Have courageous trust and stay curious.
When you do these 3 things, even more mindset shifts will occur so that you’ll be ready to open up and be visible when those favorable situations and people do come along.
You won’t stay stuck struggling with your challenge.
You won’t stay closed up unable to move forward because you will have stopped re-telling yourself an old self-sabotaging story.
Now go and experience your day to the fullest with no judgements of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ 🙂
